Today, I'm going to tell you something so amazing, it's about a revolutionary breakthrough. I never thought that one day technology will go so far that we'll be able to know about cancerous tumours by just a single drop of blood. Want to know more about a life saviour technology?

Remarkable discovery

It's about a remarkable technology that will not only leave you stunned but, will also leave you with a huge relief. The person who is the inventor of the technology is just an 18-year-old student.

Eager to know about the person?

Meet Neil Davey, the Harvard student who has also won the Maryland BioGENEius challenge in the year 2014. See what this genius guy did recently:

Technique that tells about the cancerous tumours

He injected a single drop of blood in a microfluidic device to encapsulate it into a single cell. As the cells got encapsulated, he used a standard biological technique called as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) that boosts the particles of cancer DNA. Through which, he detected the presence of cancer DNA.

According to Davey –

"The advantage of this technology is that it is ultra-sensitive, so I can detect as few as one cancer cell from a billion normal cells in the blood," he said. "The process is also very specific. One can uniquely detect a wide range of cancers using this DNA amplification technology."

He recently won..

..a silver medal for his project "Early Cancer Diagnosis by the Detection of Circulating Tumor Cells using Drop-based Microfluidics." And he really deserves it. Hats Off dude.
